COLORS PREVAIL IN RAIN AND COOLER TEMPERATURES AT WOMEN'S BRITISH OPEN

SUNNINGDALE, ENGLAND (August 3, 2008) – While the weather wasn’t as inclement as last year at St. Andrews, LPGA players once again had to change out of their summer clothes and battle rain and cooler temperatures at the 2008 Ricoh Women’s British Open.

In the slightly better weather, fashion was not largely set aside for the final round at Sunningdale Golf Club, as it was at St. Andrews in 2007 when players were forced by 57-degree weather into rain suits and earmuffs.

“This year, most players in the final round were comfortable in outfits giving women an advance look at what can be attractively worn in this fall’s weather—colorful pants with contrasting long-sleeve shirts,” said noted women’s golf clothing designer Tracey Lynn Blake. Natalie Gulbis, in black with white trim, and Paul Creamer, in her signature pink and white, were the notable final round wardrobe exceptions wearing skorts.

“The best-dressed players in the fourth round wore solid color pants—black, white or electric blue; Kristie Kerr, Annika Sorenstam and Ai Miyazato,” said Blake, who picks the players wearing the best-looking women’s golf clothing in the final round of the LPGA major championships, deeming them Sunday’s Best®.

“Kristie showed you can still use solid black shoes and black pants while Annika used white pants and Ai used the electric blue as the foundation of their outfits,” Blake said. Annika set it off with a splashy solid orange shirt, Ai with white which also included a coordinating electric blue baseball cap to accent.

“Being comfortable in cooler weather while keeping your outfit simple and colorful is a great look,” Blake said. Like a number of other leading designers, Blake includes contrasting long-sleeve shirts, pants and matching jackets in her women’s golf apparel line.

All 72 final round players wore performance-enhancing stretch materials, most self-wicking, fabric Blake uses exclusively and which cools in heat and warms a player in cooler temperatures.
