Observing events from a pure merchandising standpoint, the LPGA and some of its top supporters lost one of the tour’s brightest promotional platforms with the retirement of Lorena Ochoa.

 Shock flooded over golf fans everywhere as top-ranked female golfer, Lorena Ochoa, announced her retirement today at the age of 28. Ochoa has been considered to be one of the most dominant women in sports. She has had 27 career victories, two major championships and the last four LPGA player of the year awards.
